ilako – the specialists for industrial coatings and corrosion protection
55 years of ilako GmbH & Co. KG and well preserved for the future
The business of ilako GmbH & Co. KG may be the signs of ageing but its 55 year history has left no trace of it on the company itself.
On the contrary, since its establishment in 1949 the specialist for steel and concrete protection has grown steadily, constantly expanding its operations to include new business areas.
Immediately after the reunification of Germany Herbert Stromberg, at the head of his team of 52 skilled workers, started off with a paint spraying operation.
Today, ilako GmbH & Co. KG are established experts in a wide field of special applications aimed at the preservation and protection of industrial plant and equipment.
The range of services includes special rust removal and coating processes, corrosion protection being a prime element of industrial damage prevention.
The headquarters of ilako is nowadays located in Arken, near Dessau, and the skilled workforce in the meantime numbers 132.
Christoph Stromberg has followed in the footsteps of his father, Herbert.
He backs continuity when it is a question of the values on which the business is based, upholding quality and punctual completion combined with strict cost control as the trademark of ilako.
Christoph Stromberg is convinced that, thanks to this philosophy, the family firm is on course for organic growth in the future.
As one of the region's biggest employers, the son of the company's founder sees more than the business side:
with its frequent participation in assisted projects, ilako also lives up to a social commitment in the local area.
ilako has no lack of orders at present.
Current projects include Ferropolis, a former open-cast mine which is to be transformed into one of Germany's major venues for events.
The project had been jeopardised by the poor condition of four mining machines which are deployed as essential structural elements.
ilako is now to stop the progress of corrosion so as to guarantee the safety of the excavators and spreaders in the coming years.
Prior to this, ilako had already made a name for itself with full surface treatment of the A9 motorway bridge over the Elbe at Vockerode.
One of the company's newest areas of business is coatings for wind energy installations.
To date, well over 1.5 million square metres of steel structures and containers of all sorts have been sandblasted and coated at the Arken works.
